Beetles and Babes 1

Fashion, science, nature, and anthropology blur horizons and Suzy Parker's silhouette with colorful, jewel beetles. Sail away on silvery-iridescent ocean waves and wisps of lazy clouds. I used magazine pages from retro editions of Harper's Bazaar and National Geographic. To preserve them they are sealed under a sheet of Plexiglas. The specs of the original piece are16x20, paper, acrylic paint, iridescent ink, canvas board, and plexiglas on stretched canvas.

A mix of fashion, raw silk and corduroy fabrics, entomology, and bright, fresh colors. I wove her weave with silk thread! 16x20, fiber, paper, plexiglas, and canvas board on stretched canvas. Constructed to last the image portion is sealed under a panel of plexiglas.

This piece showcases peacock feathers from  my late Gran's farm in Paris, Kentucky, they are interwoven with images of a beetle in the grass and a bathing babe in black and white, set among raw silk and colorful ribbons. 16x20, paper, fiber, feather, plexiglas, and canvas board on stretched canvas. Constructed to last the image portion is sealed under a panel of plexiglas.

Space Bardot

Look deeply in her eyes...what the &$#* do you see? In another time, another space, there lives a great juggler of the cosmos, creating worlds of light and color for the otherwise black and white dreams of Stormtroopers.
